Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about LuckyChunk server hosting.

What is LuckyChunk

LuckyChunk is the simplest way to play Minecraft with friends online. We give you a private Minecraft server without any of the technical setup. You don't need to know what a server is, how hosting works, or what port forwarding means. Just pick your Minecraft version, pay $10/month, and share the server address with your friends. That's it — everyone can join and play together. If you want to learn more about different ways to play with friends, check out our guide on <a href="/guides/how-to-play-minecraft-with-friends">How to Play Minecraft with Friends</a>.

How much does LuckyChunk cost?

LuckyChunk costs $10 per month. That includes everything - your own server, support for up to 20 players, a management panel, and optimized performance. There are no hidden fees, no setup costs, and no extra charges. You pick a Minecraft version, pay, and your server is ready. No need to compare RAM plans or figure out which tier you need. One plan, one price, everything included.

How many friends can play on my LuckyChunk server

Up to 20 players can be online at the same time on your LuckyChunk server. That's more than enough for a group of friends to build, explore, and survive together. Just share your server address and your friends can join - no invites or approval process needed. If you want to control who has access, you can enable a whitelist from your server management panel.

Do I need any technical knowledge to use LuckyChunk?

Not at all. LuckyChunk is built specifically for people who have never set up a server before. The entire process is: pick a Minecraft version, pay, and your server is live. If you ever need to change something, the management panel makes it simple - no commands or config files to deal with. For a step-by-step walkthrough on how your friends connect, check out our guide on <a href="/guides/how-to-join-a-minecraft-server">How to Join a Minecraft Server</a>.

Can I manage my server?

Yes. Every LuckyChunk server comes with a management panel where you can control your server. You can manage a whitelist to choose who can join, ban players you don't want on your server, switch to a different Minecraft version, or start a fresh new world. Everything is accessible through a simple interface - no terminal commands or technical knowledge required.

What Minecraft versions does LuckyChunk support?

LuckyChunk supports Minecraft Java Edition. You choose your version when you create your server, and you can switch to a different version at any time through the management panel. Keep in mind that changing your version will start you on a fresh world. All your friends will need to run the same version to connect - they can switch versions in the Minecraft Launcher under the Installations tab. For more details on how to connect, check out our guide on <a href="/guides/how-to-join-a-minecraft-server">How to Join a Minecraft Server</a>.

Can I install mods or plugins?

LuckyChunk servers run vanilla Minecraft. This means you get the pure, unmodified Minecraft experience - the same game as the developers intended. Vanilla servers are stable, easy to maintain, and everyone can join without needing to install anything extra. Your friends just need the standard Minecraft Java Edition client to play.

How do my friends join my LuckyChunk server?

Once your server is created, you'll get a server address. Share it with your friends and they just need to open Minecraft, go to Multiplayer, click Add Server, paste the address, and click Done. That's all - they can connect anytime. If the server is asleep because no one has been playing, it will automatically wake up in about 20 seconds. No accounts to create, no software to install, no approval needed. We have a full walkthrough in our guide on <a href="/guides/how-to-join-a-minecraft-server">How to Join a Minecraft Server</a>.

How long does it take to set up a LuckyChunk server?

Under a minute. You pick a Minecraft version, pay, and your server is live. There's no configuration, no waiting for provisioning, and no setup steps to complete. You can share the server address with your friends right away and start playing together.
